Phase-based dosing: ramp, maintain, taper

Ramp, maintenance, taper, and cycles—without spreadsheet math.

Ramp, maintenance, taper, and cycles—without spreadsheet math.

Real protocols rarely look like “same dose forever.” You ramp, hold, taper, or cycle—and StackTrack’s program builder is built for that rhythm so you’re not hand-calculating every week.

Ramp up

Starting at a low dose and increasing over time helps your body adjust and can reduce side effects. Common with peptides and some supplements.

In StackTrack:

  • Choose Ramp up as the dose pattern
  • Set Ramp start dose (e.g., 0.25 mg)
  • Set Ramp end dose (e.g., 0.5 mg)
  • Set Ramp days (e.g., 7)

StackTrack generates schedule entries that increase linearly from start to end over the specified days.

Ramp down (taper)

Tapering off a substance avoids abrupt withdrawal. You might reduce dose over days or weeks.

In StackTrack:

  • Choose Ramp down as the dose pattern
  • Set Ramp start dose (current dose)
  • Set Ramp end dose (target end dose, usually lower)
  • Set Ramp days

The schedule engine creates entries that decrease from start to end.

Maintenance

Once you’ve ramped up (or started at target), you often stay at a steady dose. Use Static dosing: same amount every time. Set your target dose, frequency, and time of day.

Periodic cycling

Some protocols use on/off cycles: 5 days on, 2 off; or 2 weeks on, 1 week off.

In StackTrack:

  • Choose Periodic as the dose pattern
  • Define your phase config: days on, days off
  • StackTrack generates entries only for “on” days

Combining phases

You can model a full protocol by using multiple program drugs or by creating separate programs for different phases. For example:

  • Program 1: Ramp up over 7 days
  • Program 2: Maintenance for 8 weeks (starts when Program 1 ends)
  • Program 3: Taper over 2 weeks

Or use a single program with different drugs for each phase, with appropriate start/end dates.

Custom schedules

For irregular patterns (e.g., specific days of the week, every 72 hours), use Custom or Every N days with the right frequency details. StackTrack’s schedule engine handles the logic so you get the right entries in your Today view and calendar.

Phase-based dosing keeps complex protocols manageable. Try StackTrack to build your next protocol.
